The Health Score, put to the test

What if you had held the stocks with the highest Health Scores? We simulated it across our global universe: portfolios formed from fixed Health Score bands, with trading costs included. These are backtested results, not actual trading.

Simulation window: Sep 29, 2023 to Sep 29, 2026 · Simulated in EUR

Top-rated band
+78.4%
All stocks
+51.4%
Advantage
+27.0 percentage points

Total return over the simulation window. The portfolios are re-formed every quarter from the latest Health Scores, with trading costs of 0.15% on everything bought and sold.

Growth of €100

Each portfolio starts at €100. The curves show what that amount would have become. What to look for: the top-rated band should finish above the dashed line of all stocks.

Key figures

PortfolioTotal returnSharpe ratioMax drawdown
Top-rated band+78.4%1.59-15.7%
All stocks+51.4%1.09-16.1%
Total return
The overall gain or loss over the full window, after the selected trading costs. Higher is better.
Sharpe ratio
Return earned above the money-market rate, per unit of volatility. Higher means better risk-adjusted performance.
Max drawdown
The largest peak-to-trough loss along the way: the worst outcome of buying at a high point within the window. Closer to zero is better.

How this simulation works

Every trading day, our models assign each stock in our global universe a Health Score. For this simulation, each stock falls into one of five fixed score bands at every rebalancing date. Each band's portfolio holds its stocks in equal weights until the next rebalancing, when it is re-formed from the latest scores. Because the bands are fixed, the portfolios vary in size over time.

All stocks is the neutral benchmark: every eligible stock in equal weights, rebalanced on the same schedule. It shows what the universe did on its own, so the gap between the top-rated band and this line is attributable to the Health Score.

Returns are total returns including dividends, after the trading costs stated above. The figures are a snapshot of the simulation that we refresh from time to time; the window above shows the period it covers.

In the app, the simulation shows every score band and lets you switch the rebalancing schedule and the trading costs. It is included in every plan, Core too.

About these results

The results shown are backtested: computed retrospectively by applying today's methodology to historical data. They do not represent actual trading and do not reflect the returns of any real portfolio. Simulated results have inherent limitations: they are constructed with hindsight, cannot account for market impact or liquidity constraints, and assume execution at observed prices. Figures are net of the selected transaction cost assumption but before taxes and any product fees.

Past performance, whether real or simulated, is not a reliable indicator of future results. The value of investments can go down as well as up. Nothing on this page is investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell any security. See also our disclaimer.
